AI for Schools South Africa

Practical AI training
for South African schools

We help school leaders, teachers, and parents understand and use AI with confidence, one step at a time.

Where things stand right now
Learners are already using AI
Often without much guidance on safe, responsible use.
Teachers have real questions
What's allowed, what helps, and what to say to learners.
Parents want to know your plan
A simple, honest answer goes a long way.

We've done this work with schools across South Africa. You don't have to figure it out alone.

Four programmes, one school community

Teachers, admin staff, parents, and students all need something different from AI. We built a programme for each.

AI Fluency for Students

Real understanding of AI, not just tool use, built for three age bands from primary through senior school and paired with hands on practical work using tools like Gemini Notebook.

AI for Teachers

Workshops and online courses for teaching staff. We've sat hours with teachers, in real classrooms, to see how AI can actually help, not just where it might in theory.

AI for Admin

Practical AI tool use for the people running the school day. Just as hands on as our other programmes, built around the everyday work of a school office.

AI for Parents

Workshops, online webinars, and courses for parents, covering the same ground we cover with teachers and students, translated for the people raising children alongside all of this.

AI Fluency for Students

Built in the classroom, not just for it

The Grade 7 to 9 band of AI Fluency for Students was built directly with students, at a few schools where we sat in on real classrooms. We spent that time asking what actually worked, what confused them, and what stuck, then built the course around their answers.

It carries their fingerprints throughout. Built by kids, for kids, in the truest sense we could manage.

The AI Readiness Assessment

Here to make AI make sense.

That's the idea behind AI for Schools. Founded by Jo Brink and Liezel Nicholas, who've spent their careers making complex technology work for non-technical people, and have trained over 3,000 teachers across Africa. The schools that have worked with them don't call it training. They call it finally having a clear plan.

Questions schools ask us

Is AI safe for my child to use at school?

Used well, yes. There are real risks, in the technology itself and in using it without guidance, but neither is a reason to avoid it. AI for Schools helps teachers and school leaders set clear boundaries so learners use AI responsibly, not in secret.

What does AI for Schools actually do?

We train school leaders, teachers, parents, and students to use AI with confidence. That means practical workshops, a clear plan for your school, and ongoing support, not a one-off talk.

How much AI experience do teachers need before starting?

None. Most teachers who come to us have never used AI. We start from where they are and build up one step at a time.

How do I know if my school is ready for AI training?

Take the free AI Readiness Assessment on our site. It takes a few minutes and gives you a clear picture of where your school stands before you commit to anything.
